Lovers Say Goodbye

This was written on returning from the memorial service of an old friend around Easter 2011. The song came flowing out quicker than the three hours plus spent listening to people talk about a man who had transformed from the lanky boy I knew into someone almost entirely different except for his apparent continued intolerance of fools.

That night I finished the lyrics on my phone - my, how the world has changed.

Hugo lived, some years ago, with Alison (My Friend Alison Said) and me in sunless Sidcup.

The chorus is grounded on the grain of truth that as a callow youth I said goodbye to a woman I loved on a station platform and I never saw her again ...

It's a chirpy song about loss if you feel in need of definition...
